US Open Tennis: Women’s Singles Semifinals at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
American Amanda Anisimova’s shocking run to the Wimbledon final ended with an absolute blowout at the hands of Iga Swiatek. However, she got her revenge with an upset of Swiatek in the quarterfinals to end up here. She’ll play either Naomi Osaka or Karolina Muchova. The other matchup is already set between American Jess Pegula and #1-ranked Aryna Sabalenka.
NFL: Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles at 8:20 pm (ET) on NBC
NFL season is here! A rivalry game featuring the defending Super Bowl champions to kick things off. Dallas just somewhat hilariously traded away their best player rather than pay him. You know that thing that makes old people drive really slowly, even though they should probably get to wherever they’re going quickly before they die? That very same thing also applies to how Jerry Jones is running the Cowboys. He seems completely unaware that the percentages say he’ll see a Luther concert before Dallas wins another Super Bowl. If only Jerry didn’t want to be a fool no more, am I right?!?
WNBA: Minnesota Lynx @ Las Vegas Aces at 10:00 pm (ET) on Prime Video
Who knew one game could have so many long-lasting implications? The last time these two faced off, the Lynx demolished Vegas by 53 points. However, Minnesota star Napheesa Collier suffered an injury that caused her to miss three weeks of action. While the Lynx held onto their 1 seed, Phee’s quest for her 1st MVP award took a huge blow.
It may have taken a blow regardless due to the play of A’ja Wilson. She’s returned to last season’s historical form since that embarrassment, and, more importantly, the Aces have not lost a game since. After looking like a fringe playoff team for much of the year, Las Vegas is in the driver’s seat for the 2 seed. Expect this one to have finals’ vibes!

US Open Tennis: Women’s Doubles Championship at 12:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2
Off the court, the US Open has stunk for Taylor Townsend. In 2012, the USTA asked her to sit out the junior tournament, and she had her wild card request for the main draw denied, both as a result of her weight. Then, on the singles side this year, she had to deal with a sore-losing-ass tantrum by Jelena Ostapenko. However, on the court, she’s been kicking ass. First, a career-best run on the singles side. Now, she and doubles partner Katerina Siniakova are in the finals as the top seed.
US Open Tennis: Men’s Singles Semifinals at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
We’re waiting to see one side of the draw, but that’s okay because the other gives us yet another Alcaraz-Djokovic matchup.
NFL: Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers at 8:00 pm (ET) on YouTube
The Chiefs’ first game since Travis Kelce climbed to the top of the white vacationers’ pyramid!
Also, this will be the last Friday NFL game for a while. The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 prevents the league from broadcasting regular-season games from the second weekend of September until the second weekend of December to protect high school and college football. Labor Day falling so early in September the past 2 seasons gave the NFL a loophole to allow this, but that won’t be the case next year.
WNBA: New York Liberty @ Seattle Storm at 10:00 pm (ET) on ION
My TikTok demanding the WNBA give us a Skylar Diggins-only feed went viral enough that the Hootie Hoo Queen herself (maybe?) commented on it! They badly need a win to hold off the Sparks for the final playoff spot, but please don’t tell her I said that.
@thebrandonsilvers Skylar Diggins is pure entertainment and also scares me a little #wnba #seattlestorm

College Football: Oklahoma State Cowboys @ Oregon Ducks at 3:30 pm (ET) on CBS
We’ve got some coach spiciness heading into this one! On his radio show, mullet connoisseur/Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy took his losing post-game press conference speech on a test run by complaining that Oregon spends so much money on football that they should only play non-conference opponents with similar budgets. Ducks coach Dan Lanning responded by very politely telling him to get his money up.
This complaint is especially interesting coming from Gundy when you remember that a literal oil tycoon by the name of T. Boone Pickens donated $165 million to the Cowboys’ athletic department in 2005. Guess who was hired in 2005? This was the single largest gift to an athletics program in NCAA history. Oklahoma State has just two top-10 finishes under Gundy.
US Open Tennis: Women’s Singles Championship at 4:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
Last Grand Slam final of the year!
College Football: #15 Michigan Wolverines @ #18 Oklahoma Sooners at 7:30 pm (ET) on ABC
The only top-25 matchup on the week 2 slate. Both teams looked impressive against non-Power 4 opponents in week 1. Michigan starting QB Bryce Underwood was the #1 high school recruit last year. I guess those rankings were pretty accurate because he’s starting. The Sooners are hoping transfer QB John Mateer can solve the offensive issues they’ve had under Brent Venables. 392 yards passing and 3 TDs was one hell of a start. Which one is for real? None? Both? We’ll get some answers in this one.

College Volleyball: #6 Stanford Cardinal @ #2 Texas Longhorns at 1:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
If only college football scheduled opponents like this! Longhorns OH Torrey Stafford comes over from Pitt, where she racked up accolade after accolade. She’s on the AVCA Player of the Year watchlist. She’s joined by Stanford OH Elia Rubin. They were both 1st-Team AVCA All-Americans last year. Neither has a national title to their name…yet. It’s still very early, but taking down a championship contender would certainly be a good sign.
US Open Tennis: Men’s Singles Championship at 2:00 pm (ET) on ABC
Didn’t you hear me when I told you this was the last Grand Slam final of the year?
NFL: Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills at 8:20 pm (ET) on NBC
The top two vote-getters for MVP last season/the two players with the most to prove this season, according to yours truly, square off to start the year. Each matchup has quickly become a referendum on who is the better quarterback between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Allen struck the last couple of blows as he walked away with the MVP trophy and playoff win. Lamar needs to do something ASAP, or we’ll never hear the end of the “not a QB” talk.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears at 8:15 pm (ET) on ABC
This is like the Josh Allen-Lamar Jackson QB matchup if we traded greatness for uncertainty. The J.J. McCarthy era starts in Minnesota. Based on his college career, that’s the nicest thing I have to say about that. However, I’m open to being proven wrong, so I can blame it all on Jim Harbaugh’s antiquated offensive scheme.
Caleb Williams debuted last season for the Bears with mostly meh results. Turns out, that could have totally been coaching-related. New head coach Ben Johnson was the offensive mastermind behind the Lions’ rise to the top of the NFL. What can he do for Caleb and the Bears?

WNBA: Minnesota Lynx @ Indiana Fever at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
The last regular season game for the Fever, who suddenly find themselves in a battle to make the postseason. Will they hold on or…
WNBA: Los Angeles Sparks @ Phoenix Mercury at 10:00 pm (ET) on NBA TV
…will the Sparks catch them?
Wednesday, September 10th, 2025
MLB: Detroit Tigers @ New York Yankees at 7:05 pm (ET) on Prime Video
Yankees fans lost their minds at manager Aaron Boone attending the UNC-TCU football game. Boone’s son is a student assistant on Bill Belichick’s staff, which is probably not something to brag about right now. Boone was a little less conspicuous than Anthony Volpe’s dad.
