From the hotly contested men’s 100m to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone’s ridiculous showing in the 400m to a new queen of women’s sprints! We cover it all and have fun doing it! Don’t take my word for it!
Now, to the sports!

College Football: Army Black Knights @ East Carolina Pirates at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
Fictional US Army veteran Forrest Gump’s mother famously told him, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.” That quote also applies to 2025 Army football. 3 games all decided by 1 score. They’ve lost to a I-AA program. They’ve beaten a Big 12 program. There will be chaos. There will be entertainment. There will be a close game. And that’s all I have to say about that.

WNBA: Las Vegas Aces @ Indiana Fever at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2
The first of our WNBA semifinal game 3s. The battle between Gamecocks A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston has told the story of the series so far. In game 1, Boston was able to annoy Wilson into an uncharacteristic 6-22 shooting performance as Indiana stole the series opener. However, A’ja is a 4-time MVP for a reason, and adjusted in a big way as she and the Aces dominated in game 2. Which of Dawn’s players comes out on top in this pivotal Game 3?
WNBA: Minnesota Lynx @ Phoenix Mercury at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2
I wouldn’t have believed Game 2 happened if I hadn’t watched it with my own two eyes. The Lynx were cruising to a 2-0 series lead until suddenly they weren’t. Phoenix ruined Napheesa Collier’s birthday by overcoming a 20-point 3rd quarter deficit to win game 2 in overtime. Phee and fellow MVP finalist Alyssa Thomas have been talking cash shit to each other all series, too, which I thoroughly enjoy. Let’s get even more negative in game 3!

College Football: #21 USC Trojans @ #23 Illinois Fighting Illini at 12:00 pm (ET) on Fox
Trojans QB Jayden Maiava has been hoopin’. Last week, he threw for 3 TDs and ran for 2 more against Michigan State. He has yet to throw an interception this season. The Trojans’ offense is 3rd in total yards per game in the nation. Not a great sign for a Fighting Illini squad that just had 63 points scored against them in last week’s blowout loss. Illinois head coach Bret Bielema looks like Rob Riggle if he went to Wendy’s instead of the gym. Respectfully.
College Football: #4 LSU Tigers @ #13 Ole Miss Rebels at 3:30 pm (ET) on ABC
The big news of the week was the revelation that LSU LB Whit Weeks is dating Lane Kiffin’s daughter. Kiffin responded to the news becoming public by commenting, “Take the over.” He’s not a man who needs any more motivation to try to score 100 points, but he certainly has some this week. I can’t think of an opposing coach who would deserve it more than Brian Kelly.
College Football: #6 Oregon Ducks @ #3 Penn State Nittany Lions at 7:30 pm (ET) on NBC
I’ve got a fraud rant locked and loaded if Penn State doesn’t win this game. Enough is enough. We can’t keep acting like they’re a blue blood when they haven’t won a national title since 1986. Notre Dame is a joke, too, but at least they’ve made championship game appearances, as embarrassing as they may have been. Figure it out! As always, if you want more college football talk, check out the Nameless College Football Show every week.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings vs. Pittsburgh Steelers at 9:30 am (ET) on NFL Network
Yes, the time is correct. They’re playing this one in Dublin, Ireland. Vikings QB Carson Wentz has started a game for 6 different franchises the last 6 seasons. That doesn’t seem possible. Remember when he was an MVP candidate? At this rate, he will have started a game for every NFL team twice over by the time he’s Aaron Rodgers’ age.
WNBA: Las Vegas Aces @ Indiana Fever at 3:00 pm (ET) on ABC
Game 4! Watch Lexie Hull spend an entire game running into opposing players in an effort to get foul calls!
WNBA: Minnesota Lynx @ Phoenix Mercury at 8:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2
Game 4! How many fouls do you think DeWanna Bonner believes she has committed in her career?

English Premier League: West Ham @ Everton at 3:00 pm (ET) on USA Network
Roughly a decade ago, I had a brief spell where I followed the EPL relatively closely. I became an Aston Villa supporter as they had already won over my dear friend, Brett, thanks to GK and former Gamecock Brad Guzan. That Villa squad featured a promising young player by the name of Jack Grealish. I’m pretty sure I saw more pictures of him drunk or inhaling nitrous oxide than I saw him on the pitch. Well, he’s 30 now and playing for Everton.

MLB Wild Card: Information TBD
This is actually turning into a pretty fun race, so just imagine what the series will be like!
WNBA: Both Game 5s if necessary at TBD on TBD
This will be wild if it happens. Start taking ashwaghanda now, just in case (Note: don’t listen to me because I’m not a doctor.).

MLB Wild Card: Information TBD
The great thing about playoff baseball is that it happens almost every day!
Halloween Movie of the Week: Hocus Pocus (1993)
That’s right, it’s October! I like to watch as many Halloween movies as possible throughout the month, and the good people over at TikTok have given me a lot of suggestions for this year. However, we start with a classic. This tale about a teen resurrecting a trio of children-eating witches is a staple in the Silvers’ household. Personally, I’ve followed it from Fox Family to ABC Family and now Freeform. If it’s on TV, we’re watching it. There’s even a second TV next to the main TV so we can still watch sports, too. Grab your Surge and Dunkaroos and tap in!
As always, thank you for reading! Make sure you are subscribed so you get this in your inbox first thing Thursday mornings. Also, share with your friends. I’ll see you next week!
