World Track and Field Championships, WNBA playoffs, and a Super Bowl rematch!
Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!
Cookin’ up something for Beyond The Arc with Brandon Silvers this week, but the Nameless College Football Show is ready for your viewing pleasure! This week, P.D. and I discuss which coach’s seat is the hottest, preview some top-25 matchups, and console each other over South Carolina’s offensive line play.
Now, to the sports!
Thursday, September 11th, 2025
College Football: Fort Valley State Wildcats @ Clark Atlanta Panthers at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2
HBCU football on ESPN2! These two played a thriller last year that CAU won 45-42 thanks to Panthers QB David Wright’s 7 TD passes. Fortunately for the Wildcats, Wright is gone. Will they have better luck against his replacement, Jackson State transfer Zy McDonald?
WNBA: Las Vegas Aces @ Los Angeles Sparks at 10:00 pm (ET) on NBA TV
The final regular-season game of the year, so this is the last time you will see the Sparks in action until 2026. They will just barely miss out on the postseason, but they did see a huge improvement over last year’s 8 wins. They also identified some key contributors heading into what should be an insane offseason, which is the most important thing for them at this stage of their rebuild.

College Volleyball: #6 Wisconsin Badgers @ #21 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2
An underrated reason for the awesomeness of volleyball is the amount of sports nostalgia you will experience. It feels like every team has at least one daughter of an athlete you know! The Badgers are no exception with 6’7” middle blocker Carter Booth. Her dad, Calvin, played 10 years in the NBA as one of those backup centers teams had to sign because of Shaq. Most recently, he was the GM of the Denver Nuggets until they cleaned house after this past season. A respectable resume, but Carter is the more accomplished athlete with a host of Big Ten and NCAA Tournament honors. More could be on the way, as the Badgers are once again a national title contender.

Track & Field: World Championships at 5:00 am (ET) on CNBC
Day 1 of the biggest non-Olympic year event in the sport. Perhaps you don’t have a newborn like some of us and would like to sleep in a little bit more. No problem! The first final doesn’t start until 8:10 am with men’s shot put. Stay tuned for the women’s 10,000 meters final at 8:30. Huge disclaimer: check your local listings because none of the entities providing scheduling info agree on the schedule. This is true of the entire 9-day event. I will rant about this later.
College Football: #6 Georgia Bulldogs @ #15 Tennessee Volunteers at 3:30 pm (ET) on ABC
I cannot think of this game without hearing the SEC on CBS theme song. SEC football is a Disney product now, but this should be a close one. Georgia’s defense is surrendering just 6.5 points per game while Tennessee’s offense is scoring 58.5 points per game. Based on what I know of football and math, one of these things has to give.
MLB: St. Louis Cardinals @ Milwaukee Brewers at 8:15 pm (ET) on Fox
As of Wednesday night, the Brewers have 15 opportunities left to win 8 games and to break their franchise record for wins in a season (96). They are currently 2nd in runs scored per game and 3rd in runs allowed. Based on what I know of baseball and math, this is good.

Track & Field: World Championships at 5:30 am (ET) on CNBC
Women’s and men’s 100m finals in this session! If that’s all you care about, tune in at 9:13 am (ET). They will run them back-to-back. The big storylines are legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s final meet and the Kishane Thompson-Noah Lyles rivalry.
WNBA Playoffs: Coverage begins at 1:00 pm (ET) on ESPN/ABC
Matchups are still up in the air while seeding is being finalized, but four games to kick things off. The 3 o’clock game will be the only one on ABC. Feels like we’re in for a wacky postseason!
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles @ Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25 pm (ET) on Fox
Early season Super Bowl rematch! Surely this will be more entertaining than that. Both teams looked rusty in their season openers, but at least Philly got a W. The Chiefs are a loss away from equalling the number of losses they had last regular season.

Track & Field: World Championships at 6:30 am (ET) on USA Network
Men’s pole vault final at 6:49 am (ET) means Mondo Duplantis could set yet another world record. The women’s 100m hurdles finals at 9:20 am (ET) will feature 4 of the 7 fastest athletes ever.
NFL: Los Angeles Chargers @ Las Vegas Raiders at 10:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
Rookie running back showdown! The Raiders’ Ashton Jeanty and the Chargers’ Omarion Hampton were the first two backs taken in the past draft, and for good reason. 6th overall pick Jeanty, fresh off one of the most absurd seasons ever, struggled a bit in game one but did score a TD. Hampton went 22nd overall after an impressive career at North Carolina. He gained a few more yards than Jeanty in his debut, but no TDs yet. Maybe tonight!

Track & Field: World Championships at 6:30 am (ET) on USA Network
The headliner for me personally is the women’s 1500m finals, because whenever I get the chance to see world record holder Faith Kipyegon, I take it. You should too!
WNBA Playoffs: Coverage begins at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
Two games 2s!
MLB: Philadelphia Phillies @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 10:10 pm (ET) on TBS
The Dodgers are killing me. This is why:
The Dodgers are the first team on record to lose a no-hit bid in the ninth twice in a 3-game span

I actually woke my infant son up to watch Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s effort against the Orioles on Saturday. For those of you living under a rock, Jackson Holliday ended that with a homer that made me question Andy Pages’ effort. He (probably) couldn’t have made the play, but I still believe he should have jumped. But hey, it happens! What can’t happen is Tanner Scott being an absolute terrorist out of the bullpen. He gave up the game-winning hit against the Orioles (after loser Blake Treinen loaded the bases), then blew the combined no-hitter a couple of nights later against the Rockies. He did manage to save that game at least, but enough of him. PLEASE!

If you remember how the men’s 1500m final went at the Olympics, it’s going to be appointment viewing for you. 9:20 am (ET) start on that one!
WNBA Playoffs: Coverage begins at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
Two more games 2s!
