A fresh episode of The Nameless College Football Show just for you! Talking about all of the firings that happened this week. Also, be on the lookout for an episode of Beyond The Arc with Brandon Silvers. Danny Foxworth was my guest as we talked about the Aces’ title run and the MLB playoffs. Always good to chop it up with Danny!
Now, to the sports!

MLB Playoffs: Milwaukee Brewers @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 6:08 pm (ET) on TBS
Game 3! Not sure how many more of these my body can take. Dodgers P Blake Snell pitched a gem in the series opener. My friend Brett texted me that it was the first time a pitcher has faced the minimum number of batters through 8 innings in the postseason since Don Larsen’s perfect game in the 1956 World Series. Naturally, Dave Roberts decided to turn to a much-maligned bullpen instead of bringing him out for the 9th, and LA/my heart barely held on.
Dave skipped all that drama in Game 2 by leaving Yoshinobu Yamamoto in for a complete game masterpiece. Yoshi allowed just 3 hits and 1 run. As bad as the bullpen has been, the starting rotation has been lights out, led by Yamamoto. He’s not allowed more than 3 earned runs since his August 11th outing.
MLB Playoffs: Toronto Blue Jays @ Seattle Mariners at 8:33 pm (ET) on FS1
Game 4! Toronto’s offense completely abandoned them in Game 1 just to have its pitching do the same in Game 2. Game 3 is currently underway, and they need to put it together because it’s already hard enough staying awake after listening to Jeter talk pregame. If not…

MLB Playoffs: Toronto Blue Jays @ Seattle Mariners at 6:08 pm (ET) on FS1
…then this game won’t be necessary. Interestingly enough, it’ll be easier to face Cal Raleigh on the road. After another homer in the series opener, The Big Dumper now has 9 home runs in 15 career games at the Rogers Centre.
MLB Playoffs: Milwaukee Brewers @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 8:38 pm (ET) on TBS
This one will be necessary, because it’s Game 4. Let’s take another look back at Game 1 at the most ridiculous play I’ve ever seen. Imagine nearly hitting a grand slam, just for it to end up being scored as an inning-ending “groundout” into a double play. My son learned several new words that I will have to discuss with his teachers one day as a result.

College Football: #12 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets @ Duke Blue Devils at 12:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
As we all expected, a midseason showdown between Georgia Tech and Duke with huge implications for the College Football Playoff picture. Head coach Brent Key has led the Yellow Jackets to their highest ranking since Darren Waller was a wide receiver for the program. Not sure what major the school offers that led to this. On the other side, Duke QB Darian Mensah is top-10 in the nation in most passing stats. As an added bonus, his coach, Manny Diaz, is almost certainly auditioning for the Penn State job. Lock in!
College Football: UNLV Runnin’ Rebels @ Boise State Broncos at 3:30 pm (ET) on FS1
A rematch of last year’s conference title game. Wouldn’t ya know it, they’re both at the top of the standings again. They’ll need some help if they want the actual title game to have playoff implications, but they each have a legitimate shot to win out. Gotta survive this one first, though!
College Football: Utah Utes @ BYU Cougars at 8:00 pm (ET) on Fox
The Holy War! BYU freshman QB Bear Bachmeier gets most of the attention, but RB LJ Martin is quietly putting together an impressive season. He’s currently 8th in the nation in rushing yards per game. Meanwhile, the Utes haven’t allowed a 100-yard rusher all season. Classic rock meets a hard place scenario! This one will have huge implications for the race to the Big 12 title game.
MLB Playoffs: Milwaukee Brewers @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 8:08 pm (ET) on TBS
Okay, now we’re in “if necessary” territory!
Sunday, October 19th, 2025
NFL: Los Angeles Rams vs. Jacksonville Jaguars at 9:30 am (ET) on NFL Network
Okay, it’s breakfast football, which is pretty much automatic. And these teams are both 4-2. However, it feels like we’re torturing the people of Great Britain. The team that’s scored the most points over there this season? The Pittsburgh Steelers. Exactly. Please, do better.
College Volleyball: #6 Pittsburgh Panthers @ #4 Louisville Cardinals at 1:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
We’ve got ourselves a top-10 showdown! After opening 2024 with 15 straight wins, Pitt dropped their 1st two matches of this season. However, they have righted the ship and managed to climb back up to #6 in the polls. Louisville has picked up right where it left off after losing head coach Dani Busboom Kelly to Nebraska. Which team opens up the second half of the season with a huge win?
NFL: Washington Commanders @ Dallas Cowboys at 4:25 pm (ET) on Fox
I’m a sucker for nostalgia, and nothing says “fall has begun” quite like a Washington-Dallas matchup on Fox. Imagine how much stronger and more horrifying this feeling gets when they utilize AI to have John Madden and Pat Summerall call the game? BOOM! TOUGH ACTIN’ TINACTIN!
MLB Playoffs: Seattle Mariners @ Toronto Blue Jays at 8:03 pm (ET) on FS1
We’re getting deep into “if necessary” territory now, but if any sport can give us that, it’s baseball.

MLB Playoffs: Los Angeles Dodgers @ Milwaukee Brewers at 5:08 pm (ET) on TBS
The only good thing about this would be the early opening pitch.
NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Detroit Lions at 7:00 pm (ET) on ABC/ESPN
I’m much more excited about this early Monday Night Football kickoff. Despite last week’s loss, the Lions are still must-watch TV. You know which team is right there with them? The Bucs. Even wilder, they’re also tied for the best record in the NFL.
MLB Playoffs: Seattle Mariners @ Toronto Blue Jays at 8:08 pm (ET) on Fox
Would be game 7. Hot take: all of these games should have been on Fox!
Halloween Movie of the Week: Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
Movies are about entertainment, and horror movies are one of the few genres that have two paths to that goal: be very good or very ridiculous. I would categorize this as the latter. The premise has potential, but the writers took every opportunity to make it as absurd as possible, and I, for one, am a fan. Picture this: vigilante justice, baby kidnapping, a small town grocery store that only hires hot women, surprise inheritance, Trey Songz, and a hitchhiker who believes shirt buttons are optional. As if that’s not wild enough, everything I just listed takes place before Leatherface shows up for the main event. Enjoy!

NBA: Houston Rockets @ Oklahoma City Thunder at 7:30 pm (ET) on NBC
We’ve made it! Opening night of the NBA regular season, and the first game on NBC since 2002. Tons of storylines in this one, too. Kevin Durant has once again changed teams, so this will be his debut with the Rockets. It’ll take place against his original franchise that he shockingly abandoned in the 2016 offseason. He’ll get to watch as they get their rings after winning the first NBA title since they moved to OKC. On top of all of that, KD is expected to turn the Rockets into the Thunder’s main competition atop the Western Conference. Hell of a start!
MLB Playoffs: Los Angeles Dodgers @ Milwaukee Brewers at 8:08 pm (ET) on TBS
Don’t fuck with me.
NBA: Golden State Warriors @ Los Angeles Lakers at 10:00 pm (ET) on NBC
But wait…there’s more! The first full season of Luka the Laker begins sans LeBron James (the dad) as he is set to miss the beginning of the year battling sciatica. That’s the oldest NBA sentence I’ve ever typed. On the other side, the Warriors are going to try to convince the world that they’re contenders despite having as many as 7 rotation guys who were born before head coach Steve Kerr was teammates with Michael Jordan. That’s the second-oldest NBA sentence I’ve ever typed.

NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers @ New York Knicks at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
The Inside The NBA crew makes their ESPN debut after 36 years on TNT. Tune in an hour early to catch that. I’ll withhold judgment on whether or not they should have made the move until I see how things look. This should be an Eastern Conference Finals preview with last year’s top team in the East without its star player for the season. The Knicks are operating under new head coach Mike Brown. I predict newcomer Jordan Clarkson will either be a fan favorite or hated by the All-Star break.
NBA: San Antonio Spurs @ Dallas Mavericks at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
The future is now! #1 overall pick Cooper Flagg makes his NBA debut against the apparently still-growing Victor Wembanyama. Vic followed up his Rookie of the Year campaign by improving across the board before a scary bout with blood clots ended his season prematurely last year. Based on how he’s looked in the preseason, he’s my sleeper MVP pick.
