Screen Shots: November 6th-12th, 2025

A SoCon football throwback, early season college hoops rivalries, and an Oklahoma geography lesson!

Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!

We do have a new episode of Beyond The Arc with Brandon Silvers dropping Thursday evening! Brett swings by to talk about the Dodgers’ World Series run. I share my own thoughts about it on At The Plate with Danny Foxworth, so be on the lookout for that one Thursday morning. In the meantime, check out this week’s Nameless College Football Show, where P.D. and I celebrate a Gamecock coaching move and rant about the greed surrounding college football.

Now, to the sports!

  • College Football: Georgia Southern Eagles @ Appalachian State Mountaineers at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about how nothing makes me reminisce about early 2000s SoCon football quite like seeing Georgia Southern’s name on the schedule. Turns out, a Georgia Southern-App State game takes that nostalgia to another level. These two programs combined for at least a share of 22 SoCon titles from 1986 to 2012. They won 5 I-AA/FCS national championships on top of that. Alas, now they are Sun Belt foes who could each use a win to bolster their bowl eligibility chances. Who gets it?

  • Men’s College Basketball: #19 Kansas Jayhawks @ #25 North Carolina Tar Heels at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

The Roy Williams Classic! At least, that’s what I call it. Jayhawks freshman Darryn Peterson showed why he’s at the top of a lot of 2026 NBA Draft boards in their season opener. The 6’6” guard dropped 21 points in just 22 minutes in a blowout win over Green Bay. He’ll face off against another freshman who’s a potential lottery pick, Caleb Wilson. The Tar Heels kicked off the season with a blowout victory of their own, and the 6’10” Wilson led the way with 22 points in 25 minutes. Let’s see what they can do against stiffer comp!

  • College Football: Tulane Green Wave @ #22 Memphis Tigers at 9:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Don’t even bother changing the channel. You’ll want to stick around to see which one of these teams can keep their slim Group of 5 College Football Playoff hopes alive. Tulane had an absolutely horrendous showing against UTSA last week in a game that I wrote about. If that defense shows up again, Tigers QB Brendon Lewis could finish with 8,000 yards in total offense by himself.

  • College Football: #8 BYU Cougars @ #9 Texas Tech Red Raiders at 12:00 pm (ET) on ABC

Want to know how nuts this season has been? In a slate with LSU-Bama, Clemson-FSU, and Ohio State-Penn State, this is somehow the only top-10 matchup of the weekend. Historically, these are two programs that come to mind when you think of slinging the football, but this season has been about their tough defenses. Each is in the top 20 in the nation in points allowed. Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on either.

  • College Football: #3 Texas A&M Aggies @ #19 Missouri Tigers at 3:30 pm (ET) on ABC

A potential trap game for the Aggies as they look ahead to a matchup with my mighty Gamecocks next week? Well, no. However, facing the Tigers at home is no cakewalk, and they had a bye week to prep freshman QB Matt Zollers to take over for the injured Beau Pribula. Also, RB Ahmad Hardy still exists. Should be a battle!

  • Men’s College Basketball: #14 Arkansas Razorbacks @ #22 Michigan State Spartans at 7:00 pm (ET) on Fox

Holy shit, Cal and Izzo are still doing this. I’m not going to lie, I thought they were finished, but they each had surprising tourney runs last year. Considering the talent they’ve coached, it’s a little surprising that they each have only 1 national title. This game is the only opportunity they’ll have to talk to someone who remembers VHS tapes.

  • Women’s College Basketball: #18 USC Trojans @ #9 NC State Wolfpack at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Life (for a year) without JuJu Watkins begins for the Trojans. UCLA transfer Londynn Jones led the way for them with 16 in their season opener against New Mexico State. I also expect sophomore Kennedy Smith and freshman Jazyy Davidson, who was the #3 recruit in the nation, to do a lot of heavy lifting this year. Heavy lifting will be needed against this Wolfpack squad that won a wild one against Tennessee to kick off the season.

  • NFL: Los Angeles Rams @ San Francisco 49ers at 4:25 pm (ET) on Fox

The 4-team NFC West is a 3-way race between these two and the Seahawks. With Seattle facing a bottom-of-the-division Arizona team, this matchup is all about keeping pace with them. They faced off a couple of weeks ago, and an OT FG won it for the 49ers. I have no reason to believe they are any less evenly matched.

  • NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Los Angeles Chargers at 8:20 pm (ET) on NBC

Mike Tomlin has unfortunately decided to use his powers for evil and turn back the clock on QB Aaron Rodgers. At what cost, though? Well, perhaps, defensively, where their NFL 2nd-best turnover differential has covered up the league’s worst passing defense. Not exactly ideal when you’re about to face Justin Herbert. Rookie TE Oronde Gadsden II has emerged as a favorite target of Herbert’s over the last four weeks. His dad, Oronde Gadsden, played right here in Charleston at Burke High School before embarking on his own NFL career.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Columbia Lions @ #4 UConn Huskies at 6:30 pm (ET) on FS1

It’s not officially college basketball season until we all collectively root against mega-douchebag Dan Hurley. Remember last year when he used the Lakers as leverage to squeeze more money out of UConn before losing 3 in a row at the Maui Invitational? Hurley swore off ever returning to the tournament before it was even over because he has a big, messy dump in his pants at all times. The Lions are certainly overmatched, but that would make this upset even sweeter.

  • Women’s College Basketball: #6 Oklahoma Sooners vs. #3 UCLA Bruins at 10:30 pm (ET) on FS1

Gotta love an early-season top-10 matchup! Sooners freshman, and the nation’s #1 recruit, Aaliyah Chavez looks to live up to the hype and make us forget about her awkward commitment announcement that had us all googling “the city of Norman”. She’s got plenty of veteran help, including double-double machine Raegan Beers.

The Bruins are once again national title contenders behind National Player of the Year favorite Lauren Betts. UConn embarrassed them in last year’s Final Four, but that’s just kind of what UConn was doing all tournament. This is a team of vets now, as both Kiki Rice and Gabby Jaquez are seniors. They also add Gianna Kneepkens, who averaged 19.3 PPG last season at Utah.

  • Women’s College Basketball: Clemson Tigers @ #2 South Carolina Gamecocks at 6:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

I’ll watch South Carolina beat Clemson’s ass at anything. Even with the season-ending injury to Chloe Kitts, the Gamecocks are once again the deepest team in the nation. Florida State transfer Ta’Niya Latson is almost certainly the most talented guard Dawn Staley has ever coached, and junior Tessa Johnson is my All-SEC sleeper pick. 6’5” Mississippi State transfer Madina Okot should ease some of the post concerns from last season.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #9 Kentucky Wildcats @ #11 Louisville Cardinals at 8:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

An old friend of mine who passed away in August at the age of 88 was a huge Kentucky fan, and could talk for hours about how much this rivalry meant to him and the state of Kentucky as a whole. The last time they faced off when they were each ranked this highly, it was Donovan Mitchell facing off against Bam Adebayo. Typing that out made me feel 88 myself.

  • NBA: Los Angeles Lakers @ Oklahoma City Thunder at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPN

At some point, we’ll have some non-Laker and/or Thunder games to talk about. For now, let’s just appreciate that JJ Redick has got this team playing so well without LeBron that I’m ready for the blockbuster trade of all blockbuster trades. Rob Pelinka doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude to do it, but I firmly believe his days are numbered.
