College Sports ONLY Edition!

Are you not entertained?!?

Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!

As always, start with my show! Another big-time guest came through to talk women’s hoops! This time it was former pro basketball player/current basketball analyst Ice Young, who dropped all of the knowledge you could ever want about the Big East. Spoiler alert: she will be a sideline reporter for a game down below!

Now, to the sports!

  • Men’s College Basketball: Baylor Bears @ St. John’s Red Storm at 7:00 pm (ET) on CBSSN

Vampire originally born right after the Black Plague Rick Pitino is still at it! He’s looking to follow up his win against his son Richard Jr.’s New Mexico team by taking down a tough Baylor squad. It’s wild that Pitino and Bears’ coach Scott Drew are 2 of just 6 active coaches who have won a national championship.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #12 Duke Blue Devils @ #17 Arizona Wildcats at 10:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2

I’ve been around long enough that when I see a familiar name on any roster I have to stop and think “Okay, is that the guy I’m thinking of, or is it his son?” Similarly, Wildcats G Caleb Love has been around long enough that I had to make sure it wasn’t his son.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #10 North Carolina Tar Heels @ Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors at 12:30 am (ET) on ESPN2

Since you’re already up, live a little and watch Love’s former team play. I'm pretty sure he and Joseph Forte played in the same backcourt. Anyway, since this might be the only Hawai’i game I write about, the Rainbow Warriors had not 1 but 2 players who played for the Charleston Lowgators, Tes Whitlock and Carl English. Carl gave me a pair of shoes that I wore to death.

  • College Football: #5 Indiana Hoosiers @ #2 Ohio St. Buckeyes at 12:00 pm (ET) on Fox

The winner moves to the top of the College Football Playoff conversation. The loser gets called a fraud by me.

  • Women’s College Basketball: #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ #3 Southern Cal Trojans at 4:00 pm (ET) on NBC

Star power in LA! Last year, JuJu Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo were 2 of just 5 freshmen ever to be named AP 1st Team All-Americans since the AP started putting teams out in 1994-’95. Kiki Iriafen, Sonia Citron, and Olivia Miles are all potential top 5 draft picks in the upcoming WNBA Draft. Most importantly, NBC sideline reporter Ice Young was just on my show (as you see above)!

  • Women’s College Basketball: #1 South Carolina Gamecocks @ #5 UCLA Bruins at 4:00 pm (ET) on FS1

Two more potential Final Four contenders who are also perfectly set up to exploit each other’s weaknesses. For the first time in what feels like forever, the Gamecocks do not have a dominant post presence. It’s caused issues on offense, but the concern here will be how they handle Bruins star C Lauren Betts. However, that might not be an issue if Betts doesn’t get the ball. UCLA freshman Elina Aarnisalo has done a wonderful job running the point, but she hasn’t faced a team with the talent or depth of perimeter defenders that South Carolina has. This one is going to be a lot of fun and tell us what each team has to do to contend for a national title.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #4 Auburn Tigers @ #5 Iowa State Cyclones at 9:00 pm (ET) on ESPNU

We’re in for one hell of a match-up if the Tigers' plane doesn't have to turn around. T.J. Otzelberger is putting together a fantastic program at Iowa State. This is the 2nd straight season they’ve found themselves ranked in the AP Top 5. That’s wildly impressive in this era of men’s college basketball, especially when they’re doing it with just 2 Top-100 high school recruits on their roster and 0 plane diversions.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Grand Canyon Antelopes @ Stanford Cardinal at 7:00 pm (ET) on truTV

I can’t talk about Baylor coach Scott Drew without mentioning his younger brother, Bryce, who hit this iconic March Madness shot when he played at Valparaiso for their dad, Homer. Bryce took over for his old man before moving on to Vanderbilt. He got fired for going 0-18 in SEC play. It turns out that’s unacceptable even at Vandy. But he landed on his feet here at Grand Canyon where he’s made the tournament 3 of the past 4 years. The Antelopes are led by TCU transfer JaKobe Coles, who utilizes the tried and true method of simply not missing shots. He’s averaging 19.7 ppg on 64% from the field at the time of this writing.

Stanford was always in the tournament when I was a child, including handing a heartbreaking L to my College of Charleston Cougars in 1998 (Danny Johnson Hive stand up!). However, they haven’t gone to the Big Dance in a decade. If they are going to break the streak, it’ll be because of 7’1” Frenchman Maxime Raynaud. The senior is averaging 21 ppg and nearly 13 boards. If France keeps churning out these 7-foot 3-point shooters, we’re going to have to start investigating crêpes.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #12 Duke Blue Devils @ #1 Kansas Jayhawks at 9:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Sorry for more Duke basketball, but they could lose so that’d be cool to see, right? Watch Kansas C Hunter Dickinson and tell me he wasn’t born to play for Duke. This man hit someone with the “too small” after they goaltended one of his shots. You know Christian Laettner is pissed he didn’t do that first.

  • College Volleyball: #1 Pittsburgh Panthers @ #3 Louisville Cardinals at 7:00 pm (ET) on ACC Network

It’s almost time for the college volleyball postseason! These 2 played a 5-set banger last month that Pittsburgh ended up pulling out. Tap into this one while you eat everything you’re supposed to be saving for Thanksgiving. Don’t ask me where all of the Hawaiian rolls went.

Appreciate you reading! It’d be incredibly cool if you subscribed to this as well so you get it in your inbox every Thursday morning. Even cooler than that? Share it so others can read and you can talk about how charming and witty I am!
