NBA: Atlanta Hawks @ San Antonio Spurs at 8:00 pm (ET) on NBA TV
Every year, I say, “If Jalen Johnson can stay healthy, look out!” Every year, Jalen Johnson gets hurt. Well, guess who’s healthy at the time of this writing and hoopin’? Fresh off of Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors thanks to an absurd 31-point, 18-rebound, 14-assist, 7-steal performance against the Jazz, Jalen has taken his play to another level as he leads the Hawks in Trae Young’s absence. It could be another huge performance for him as the Spurs are without their giant deterrent in the paint for a few weeks.

Women’s College Basketball: #6 Michigan Wolverines @ #1 UConn Huskies @ 8:00 pm (ET) on Fox
Sophomore Showdown! Feels like we’re gearing up for a Stewie-esque National Championship/National Player of the Year run by second-year star Sarah Strong. She currently leads the defending national champs in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and blocks. Not bad!
This is our best chance to see a UConn loss for quite some time as they face off against a Michigan team that just beat the brakes off of Notre Dame. The Wolverines are led by their sophomore trio of Olivia Olson, Syla Swords, and Mila Holloway. If nothing else, it’ll be a good test for them as they set their sights on their first Big Ten title in program history.
College Football: Hawaii Rainbow Warriors @ UNLV Rebels at 10:30 pm (ET) on FS1
We love a late Saturday night Hawaii game, but Friday will have to do this week. This one comes with the added bonus of both teams being firmly in the mix for a Mountain West Conference title game appearance!

College Football: Louisville Cardinals @ SMU Mustangs at 12:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2
The ACC is pure chaos. Louisville would be undefeated if they knew how to close games and/or kick field goals. Instead, they’re on the outside looking in at the ACC title game picture. One of the teams they’re looking in at is SMU, who keeps falling ass backwards into wins. Tune in to see if you can figure out either one of these teams, because I’m at a loss.
College Football: Jacksonville State Gamecocks @ FIU Panthers at 3:30 pm (ET) on CBSSN
Finally, some quality Gamecocks football. Cam Cook is doing his part to carry Jacksonville State to a Conference USA title. The Gamecocks are undefeated when the nation’s 2nd-leading rusher gives them 100+ yards and a touchdown. Can he do it in a stadium named for the man who dominated the late ’00s/early ’10s charts with hits like Hotel Room Service and Timber?
College Football: #11 BYU Cougars @ Cincinnati Bearcats at 8:00 pm (ET) on Fox
Bearcats versus Bear Bachmeier! Despite a couple of bad losses, Cincinnati still has a sliver of hope in the Big 12. That makes this one a must-win for them. The Cougars are seeking their 4th 10-win season in 6 years. Kalani Sitake should be getting more national love for the coaching job he’s done. The degree of difficulty of having to switch to a freshman because your star QB transferred 2 months before the season started is nuts.

LALIGA Soccer: Real Madrid @ Elche at 3:00 pm (ET) on ABC
We have longstanding rules regarding matches involving Kylian Mbappé, and we mustn’t break them.
NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Los Angeles Rams at 8:20 pm (ET) on NBC
Bucs’ TE Cade Otton’s parents knew their last name was Otton and still picked a first name for him that started with the letter C. 25 other letters in the alphabet, by the way. I think about this often.

Men’s College Basketball: Syracuse Orange vs. #2 Houston Cougars at 6:00 pm (ET) on TNT
As long as I can remember, the week of Thanksgiving has been synonymous with the Maui Invitational. Here’s an Awful Announcing article that explains why that’s no longer the case. Spoiler alert: money matters more than tradition. So now the big-name teams are heading over to the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas.
On the bright side, we’ll get our first look at Syracuse freshman Kiyan Anthony. Carmelo’s son has gotten off to a good start against the Orange’s early-season mid-major opponents, putting up nearly 15 points per game. That would be higher, but, as is Syracuse tradition, he’s only hitting 47% of his free throws.
Men’s College Basketball: #13 Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. #11 Alabama Crimson Tide at 9:30 pm (ET) on TNT
More Players Era Festival hoops! Another college basketball tradition we have seemingly done away with is caring about Gonzaga. Sure, they’re still good, but who cares? To me, our interest in mid-major programs mirrors our viewing options. Back when it was just network television plus basic cable, we only cared about mid-majors come tournament time. As we got more access to games, we were able to care about them throughout the year. Now that you need 47 different apps to view games and the big networks have gone all-in on power conference media rights deals, we’re back to only caring during March Madness. I cannot prove any of this, but you should watch them now.

College Football: Bowling Green Falcons @ Massachusetts Minutemen at 4:30 pm (ET) on ESPNU
As college football season winds down, it’s time to consume as much of it as possible. Sometimes, that means watching two teams battle over who’s the worst in the MAC. Bowling Green has plenty of names you know. Here’s a list for your convenience:
1) Head coach Eddie George won the Heisman Trophy at Ohio State before becoming an All-Pro NFL running back and starring in HBO’s Ballers
2) QB Drew Pyne was the mediocre quarterback at Notre Dame during Marcus Freeman’s first year as head coach, who was famously yelled at by former mediocre Notre Dame QB turned offensive coordinator Tommy Rees
3) LB Gideon Lampron’s middle name is literally ESPN after the network
Now, a quick search of the Massachusetts program tells me that they don’t have any names you’d know or, well, wins this season. But if you watch this game, one of those things COULD change.

Women’s College Basketball: #4 Texas Longhorns vs. #3 UCLA Bruins at 2:00 pm (ET) on truTV
Well, at least the Players Era has a women’s tournament too. And just in time for the Texas Longhorns to apparently figure out that they should put the ball in the hoop every now and then. They are doing that to the tune of 104.8 PPG, which is 3rd in the nation. Incredible. Can they keep it up against a UCLA team that’s already taken down a couple of top-15 teams?
Women’s College Basketball: Duke Blue Devils vs. #2 South Carolina Gamecocks at 4:30 pm (ET) on truTV
Duke badly needs a respectable showing to make us forget whatever the hell went on during their loss to West Virginia. In that one, a halftime kerfuffle led to the Mountaineers only having 5 eligible players for the entire second half. It didn’t matter as Duke continues to struggle to put the ball in the basket under Kara Lawson. They’ve gone from a #7 ranking in the preseason to outside the top-25 in just 5 games. Not great! These two faced off in last year’s Elite Eight, and Duke actually led heading into the 4th quarter before, once again, their offense deserted them and they lost by 4.
As always, thank you for reading! Make sure you’re subscribed so you get this in your inbox first thing Thursday mornings! Also, share with your friends! I’ll catch you next week!
