March Madness, MLB season is here, and watch out for championship windows!
Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!
Okay, look. I always start off with my latest episode. This time will be no different. I took a look at how my NBA preview predictions aged. However, technology got the best of me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great episode. There were just…well, things outside of my control that happened. You should still check it out, though!
Now, to the sports!
Thursday, March 27th, 2025
MLB: Milwaukee Brewers @ New York Yankees at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
The first time we’ve seen the Yankees since their World Series loss to my Dodgers. They grieved the way many of us do: by spending money. This offseason, they brought in former MVPs Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt, along with Max Fried, who has the stuff to contend for the Cy Young if healthy. How much money would they have to spend to make fans forget that inning where they turned into Little Leaguers?
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 6-seed BYU Cougars vs. 2-seed Alabama Crimson Tide at 7:09 pm (ET) on CBS
The last time BYU made it this far, they were led by Jimmer. Incredibly, they probably would have gone even further if star Brandon Davies hadn’t gone too far himself. Here’s hoping this year’s squad sticks to soaking.
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 4-seed Maryland Terrapins vs. 1-seed Florida Gators at 7:39 pm (ET) on TBS
These two meet up after surviving the two most exciting games of the tournament thus far. Terps stars Derik Queen and Julian Reese each finished in the top 5 in rebounding in the Big Ten this season. That makes Julian the 3rd-best rebounder in his family, behind his sister, Angel, and mom, also named Angel.
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 4-seed Arizona Wildcats vs. 1-seed Duke Blue Devils at 9:39 pm (ET) on CBS
If you look at this matchup and don’t immediately think of the 2001 National Championship Game, what’s wrong with you? Oh, you’re probably younger than 36 years old.
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 10-seed Arkansas Razorbacks vs. 3-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders at 10:09 pm (ET) on TBS
There’s no rhyme or reason to how well John Calipari-coached teams perform in the tournament. Don’t get me wrong, there used to be. They’d breeze through opponents to the Final Four before the inevitable NCAA investigation forced the schools to remove the banners. Now? Flip a coin.

Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 3-seed North Carolina Tar Heels vs. 2-seed Duke Blue Devils at 2:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
Nothing like a little rivalry action in the NCAA Tournament. They split their regular-season matchups, including one of the worst offensive games I’ve ever seen in my life. I’d say first team to 60 wins, but even that feels ambitious.
Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 4-seed Maryland Terrapins vs. 1-seed South Carolina Gamecocks at 5:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
Maryland is coming off the game of the tournament so far. They’ll have a couple of days to regroup, but will it be enough to pull off the upset of the tournament, too?
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 6-seed Ole Miss Rebels vs. 2-seed Michigan State Spartans at 7:09 pm (ET) on CBS
Make sure your remotes have fresh batteries. Tom Izzo’s teams are defense-first, and this year’s Spartans squad is no exception. Neither of their tourney opponents has scored more than 63 points. Keep an eye on how they guard Sean Pedulla. He’s averaging 20 points and 6.5 assists per game after the first weekend.
Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 3-seed LSU Tigers vs. 2-seed NC State Wolfpack at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
If you like watching games where the point guards look over to the coach for instructions every possession, then this isn’t the game for you. The players will be deciding this one, and I respect it. A lot of talent on both sides, and the pace should be fast.
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 3-seed Kentucky Wildcats vs. 2-seed Tennessee Volunteers at 7:39 pm (ET) on TBS
One of my favorite announcer clichés is “it’s hard to beat a team three times.” Well, that’s exactly what Kentucky is trying to do. The Wildcats haven’t made it this far since 2018. Can they keep it going?
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 5-seed Michigan Wolverines vs. 1-seed Auburn Tigers at 9:39 pm (ET) on CBS
Someone tweeted about the resemblance between Auburn star Johni Broome and rapper Jidenna, and now I can’t get “Classic Man” out of my head. What a wildly overplayed song with a ridiculous music video premise. “Yoga” still slaps, though.
Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 5-seed Ole Miss Rebels vs. 1-seed UCLA Bruins at 10:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
Ole Miss does not have the size to contend with superstar C Lauren Betts. However, if Betts doesn’t get the ball, she can’t hurt you, and Ole Miss certainly has the perimeter defenders to make that happen. Will their offense be consistent enough to capitalize?
Men’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 4-seed Purdue Boilermakers vs. 1-seed Houston Cougars at 10:09 pm (ET) on TBS
Want to beat Houston? Get them to overtime. 3 of their 4 losses have involved an extra period. However, stop at just one. They are 1-0 in double OT games this season. You’re welcome, Purdue!

Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 3-seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. 2-seed TCU Horned Frogs at 1:00 pm (ET) on ABC
These two met all the way back in November, and TCU came back from down 14 to win. Will we get the 4th quarter versions of those teams or the ones we saw in the first 3 quarters?
Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 5-seed Tennessee Volunteers vs. 1-seed Texas Longhorns at 3:30 pm (ET) on ABC
Another rematch! That one may have been the Longhorns’ most impressive offensive performance against a ranked opponent this year. Can the Vols manage to slow them down this time around?
Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 3-seed Oklahoma Sooners vs. 2-seed UConn Huskies at 5:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
The Huskies have looked like the most dominant team in the tournament so far. The healthy and aggressive Paige Bueckers-Azzi Fudd pairing has been even better than advertised. Sprinkle in the best freshman in the country in Sarah Strong, and good luck, Oklahoma!
Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen: 5-seed Kansas State Wildcats vs. 1-seed USC Trojans at 8:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
Injuries have stolen so much from us. My concern for the Wildcats heading into the tournament was the health of C Ayoka Lee. She was legitimately a generationally dominant player before the injuries started mounting. Lee has once again missed time this season, but has shown that dominance once again (albeit in shorter spurts) during the first weekend of this tournament.
And, of course, we’re all still mourning the torn ACL of megastar JuJu Watkins for USC. How the Trojans were able to regroup and get past Mississippi State is a testament to both their talent and mental strength. They’ll need more of that to continue to advance.

Women’s College Basketball NCAA Tournament Elite Eight: Times TBD
You should know because you just checked for the men.
MLB: Atlanta Braves @ San Diego Padres at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
The first time we’ve seen the Yankees Padres since their World Series playoff loss to my Dodgers. Also, this is the last opening night of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball, unless something drastic happens, I suppose. MLB and ESPN have had a TV deal since 1990! Enjoy everything while it’s happening because it all comes to an end at some point.

Look, this is getting wordy. You know the drill by now!
Tuesday, April 1st, 2025
NBA: Phoenix Suns @ Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 pm (ET) on TNT
They just played a wildly exciting game earlier this week. Remember when they faced off in the 2021 NBA Finals? Between both teams, just 5 players who played in those finals remain. Hell, Mike Budenholzer was the Bucks’ coach, and now he’s coaching the Suns. Championship windows are even shorter than TV deals with sports leagues.
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025
NBA: Detroit Pistons @ Oklahoma City Thunder at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
Championship windows open quickly, too. During that same season that the Suns and Bucks faced off, the Thunder finished next to last in the Western Conference. That was still better than the Pistons’ dead last finish in the Eastern Conference. Now, both teams are so good that ESPN puts their games on TV.
