More college basketball conference championship games than you can handle!

Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!

You should start by watching my show! Incredibly cool episode as David Harrison came back to do a play-by-play breakdown of the Malice at the Palace. David was just 9 games into his NBA career at the time and found himself smack dab in the middle of one of the wildest incidents in sports history. Taking next week off as we gear up for March Madness, but I’ll still be doing Screen Shots, so don’t worry!

Now, to the sports!

  • Women’s College Basketball: Southland Conference Championship Game at 5:00 pm (ET) on ESPNU

Allowing the 6th-fewest points per game in Division I helped Southeastern Louisiana go 19-1 in conference play this season. Crazy things happen in March, but this would be right up there with the James Madison women losing in their conference title game.

  • NBA: Sacramento Kings @ Golden State Warriors at 10:00 pm (ET) on TNT

The Warriors are 12-2 since Jimmy Butler got to town.

  • Women’s College Basketball: American East Conference Championship Game Vermont Catamounts @ Albany Great Danes at 5:00 pm (ET) on ESPNU

We actually know who is facing off in this one because the American East doesn’t use a neutral site! The Vermont Catamounts head to New York to take on the Albany Great Danes in a matchup of the top 2 regular season teams. Homecourt advantage matters as these two split the season series with the home team winning each showdown.

  • Men’s College Basketball: American East Conference Championship Game Maine Black Bears @ Bryant University Bulldogs at 11:00 am (ET) on ESPN2

Maine ended Vermont’s bid for a four-peat in this tournament. Bryant ended Vermont’s 8-year run as regular season champion. I suppose it’s only fitting that they face off to see who will rep the AEC in the Big Dance. Some famous connections: Bryant coach Phil Martelli Jr. is the son of former longtime St. Joseph’s men’s basketball coach Phil Martelli (as the name suggests). Maine coach Chris Markwood is married to former Survivor contestant Ashley Underwood.

  • Women’s College Basketball: MAC Championship Game at 11:00 am (ET) on CBSSN

Ball State’s balanced attack led them to the regular season title, but keep an eye on 2nd place Buffalo. Their star, Chellia Watson, is an undersized guard who leads the conference in scoring. The last Bulls’ player who fit that build was Dyaisha Fair, who led the program to the NCAA Tournament.

  • Men’s College Basketball: MEAC Conference Championship Game at 1:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

By now, you know I’m almost always biased towards South Carolina teams, except for Clemson because fuck them. My bias overlaps with reality here, as the South Carolina State Bulldogs were co-regular season champs. The only thing standing in the way of their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003 is their co-regular season champion, Norfolk State. Did I mention that the tournament takes place in Norfolk, too? Don’t tell Vic Schaefer!

  • Women’s College Basketball: MAAC Championship Game at 1:30 pm (ET) on ESPNU

It’s going to be hard to take down Fairfield, the regular season champion and reigning conference tournament champion. But there is hope in the form of second-place Quinnipiac. The Bobcats ended the Stags’ 39-game regular-season conference-winning streak in the regular season finale. Can Fairfield get revenge and a repeat title?

  • Women’s College Basketball: WAC Championship Game at 3:30 pm (ET) on ESPNU

I still have no clue if Grand Canyon University is a real school, but the Antelopes did go undefeated in conference play this season.

  • Women’s College Basketball: MEAC Conference Championship Game at 4:00 pm (ET) on ESPNEWS

Okay, my South Carolina bias has limits as the Lady Bulldogs are just 2-28 on the season. But, if I’m being real, I was always picking Norfolk State anyway. I’ve written about her here before, but Spartans star G Diamond Johnson is a pro. Norfolk State found itself in a battle with Howard to end the regular season until Diamond decided enough was enough and took over the game. I cannot pick against a team with a player like that.

  • Women’s College Basketball: Ivy League Conference Championship Game at 5:00 pm (ET) on ESPNEWS

Another game that should feature a mid-major WNBA prospect that I’ve written about before. However, as great as Harmoni Turner is, Harvard is going to have its hands full trying to win this one. Columbia, led by sophomore star Riley Weiss, took home the regular season crown. And second place Princeton has won 5 straight conference tournaments. The real question is, will this be a two-bid conference for the 2nd year in a row? (It should be.)

  • Women’s College Basketball: CUSA Conference Championship Game at 5:30 pm (ET) on CBSSN

Middle Tennessee claimed a share of the regular season title this season. The Blue Raiders have won the conference tournament 3 out of the last 4 years. Last season, they made plenty of noise in the NCAA Tournament, upsetting Louisville in the first round. They led LSU at the half in round 2 before the wheels fell off. Liberty was co-regular season champion. They were a staple in the NCAA Tournament as members of the Big South, where they won the conference tournament 17 out of 22 years at one point. They are seeking their first appearance since leaving the conference in 2018.

  • Women’s College Basketball: SWAC Conference Championship Game at 5:30 pm (ET) on ESPNU

I try to give 2 potential options, but this one could be wide open. Southern University won the regular season title, but 5 of the 12 teams won at least 12 conference games this season. Your guess is as good as mine!

  • Men’s College Basketball: Mountain West Conference Championship Game at 6:00 pm (ET) on CBS

New Mexico followed up last season’s conference tournament title by winning the regular season championship. This is a sneaky good conference that has sent at least four teams to the Big Dance in each of the last three seasons. With five programs currently in the top 54 in NET, that streak should continue. More importantly, they are set up for a highly competitive conference tournament!

  • Men’s College Basketball: Big 12 Championship Game at 6:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

The second-best conference in men’s college basketball. Even with that being the case, Houston missed out on running the table by a single point in an overtime game. So yeah, they’re really good.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Big East Championship Game at 6:30 pm (ET) on Fox

Rick Pitino led St. John’s to the regular season title. This would be the fifth different program he’s won a conference tournament title with if the Red Storm pull it off. He is 273 years old.

  • Men’s College Basketball: MAC Championship Game at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Akron ran through the conference during the regular season, finishing 17-1. They’re looking for their 3rd NCAA Tournament appearance in 4 years. They won last year’s conference tournament when a Kent State player intentionally fouled, mistakenly thinking that his team was losing in the final seconds. If there’s half as much excitement in this one, it will be worth the watch.

  • Men’s College Basketball: MAAC Championship Game at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPNU

I thought I was having a stroke, but the MAC and MAAC play at the same time. 6 teams finished with between 12 and 15 conference wins, so we have another conference tourney toss-up! Quinnipiac won the regular season title. They have G Ryan Mabrey on the roster, brother of women’s basketball players Marina, Michaela, and Dara.

  • Men’s College Basketball: CUSA Championship Game at 8:30 pm (ET) on CBSSN

Like the MAAC, a lot of parity here. Hopefully, this will help us learn who is in the conference because I was so confused looking at the standings. Where’s Memphis? Cincinnati?!? Remember Steve Logan?

  • Men’s College Basketball: ACC Championship Game at 8:30 pm (ET) on ESPN

As of right now, the ACC is a 3-bid conference. Same as the Mountain West. That’d be the fewest number of tourney teams for the conference since 2000, when they had half as many teams! Somehow, this is Jim Boeheim’s fault.

  • Men’s College Basketball: SWAC Championship Game at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPNU

Historically, the SWAC has produced some great talent. The 1988 Southern Jaguars team that made the NCAA Tournament featured 2 NBA players in Avery Johnson and the late Bobby Phills. To this day, Johnson’s 12.0 assists per game average over his 2 years remains the all-time Division I record. The next closest isn’t even close at all, with over 3 fewer assists per game.

Then, there’s former Mississippi Valley State star Alphonso Ford. He’s 6th on the all-time Division I career scoring list with a ridiculous 3,165 points. He had a cup of coffee in the NBA before heading overseas to continue his prolific scoring ways. Ford was diagnosed with leukemia but kept playing and scoring. In his final season, he averaged 23.5 PPG on .542/.467/.860 shooting splits. Sadly, he passed away months after the season ended. The EuroLeague’s Top Scorer Trophy is named after him.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Big West Championship Game at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Finally, a conference with a name that fits! 10 of the 11 programs are in California. The 11th? Hawaii. Doesn’t get any more big or west than that. I’ve got my money on a California team.

  • Men’s College Basketball: WAC Championship Game at 11:30 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Grand Canyon, which again might not be a real school, has won this tournament 3 of the past 4 years. However, they finished 2nd to Utah Valley in the regular season, so there’s a most likely real school in their way!

  • Women’s College Basketball: Patriot League Championship Game at 12:00 pm (ET) on CBSSN

Holy Cross has won back-to-back tournament titles, and they will face off with regular season champ, Lehigh, for the chance to play for a 3rd straight. However, the other side of the bracket features 2nd place Army and a Bucknell team led by conference player of the year, Ashley Sofilkanich. Pick your poison!

  • Women’s College Basketball: NEC Championship Game at 12:00 pm (ET) on ESPNU

Fairleigh Dickinson, who went 19-0 in conference play and 27-3 overall this year, is far and away the best team here. However, if NET rankings are to be believed, they need to win this tournament to make the NCAAs. This is a common theme in these non-high-major conferences. Here’s my fix that I’ve given zero thought to: a mini-tournament between regular-season conference champs that don’t win their conference tournament for NCAA Tournament bids. They’re looking to expand anyway, so why not give these teams that have been good over the course of the season a chance instead of a middling power conference team?

  • Men’s College Basketball: Ivy League Championship Game at 12:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

The Ivy League used to work around the issue in the previous entry by not having a conference tournament at all. Until 2017, they’d just send the regular-season champ and call it a day/season. I do like the conference tournament, though, so let’s not get too nuts.

  • Men’s College Basketball: A-10 Championship Game at 1:00 pm (ET) on CBS

VCU and George Mason split the regular season crown. Remember when they were Cinderellas? Tony Skinn, star guard for the ‘06 George Mason team that made it to the Final Four, is now the head coach. His teammate from that squad, Lamar Butler, is also on staff. Coach Ryan Odom wasn’t around for VCU’s 2011 Final Four run, but he’s got a couple of guys on his staff in Darius Theus and Bradford Burgess, who were.

  • Men’s College Basketball: SEC Championship Game at 1:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

They have traded places with the ACC in terms of men’s hoops prowess. Projected to send 13 teams to the NCAA Tournament. That would blow the previous record (8, several times) out of the water. Move over, football, this is a basketball conference now.

  • Women’s College Basketball: CAA Championship Game at 2:00 pm (ET) on CBSSN

No shame from me here. Root for the College of Charleston Cougars, please. I’m begging you. They’re really good! Finished 2nd in the conference, including an 8-game winning streak to end the season. Sophomore Taryn Barbot was just named conference player of the year. They force the 4th-most turnovers per game in Division I. They’ve never made the NCAA Tournament. Now is the time.

  • Women’s College Basketball: MVC Championship Game at 2:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

I love conference parity, and this may be the best I’ve seen. 5 schools won at least 70% of their conference games, with Missouri State and Murray State sharing the regular season title. Then there’s Drake, led by back-to-back conference player of the year Katie Dinnebier, going for their 3rd straight conference tournament title. Friend of my show, Jamie Steyer-Johnson, calls their games sometimes. Speaking of friends of the show, Belmont F Carmyn Harrison is the niece of David Harrison, the star of the video at the beginning of this newsletter. You really can’t go wrong here.

  • Men’s College Basketball: AAC Championship Game at 3:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

It looked like they were going to run Memphis coach Penny Hardaway out of town not too long ago, but he’s just led the Tigers to their best season in his tenure. As a player, Penny led Memphis (then Memphis State) to the 1992 Elite Eight. He then went on to dunk on Patrick Ewing all of the time before injuries shortened his career.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Big Ten Championship Game at 3:30 pm (ET) on CBS

I love to hate on the man, but Tom Izzo once again led the Spartans to the regular season title. I was 9 years old when he won his first as the Michigan State head coach. This is the longest Final Four drought of his career, though, so that’s something to smile about.

  • Unrivaled Basketball Semifinals: Laces vs. Rose at 7:30 pm (ET) on TNT

Y’all thought we weren’t doing Unrivaled? Wrong! It’s playoff time! Chelsea Gray has been absolutely killing for the Rose recently. Tune in and see for yourself.

  • Unrivaled Basketball Semifinals: Vinyl vs. Lunar Owls at 8:30 pm (ET) on TNT

Speaking of killing, it’s the Lunar Owls versus the world at this point. They are just running through teams.

Monday, March 17th, 2025

  • Unrivaled Basketball Championship: Teams TBD at 7:30 pm (ET) on TNT

Who comes away as the inaugural champion?

Tuesday, March 18th, 2025

  • MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs at 6:10 am (ET) on Fox

Finally, a reasonable time for me to watch Dodgers baseball. The defending World Series champions kick off the MLB season in Japan for the Tokyo Series against the Cubs. Japanese pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shota Imanaga are your starting pitchers.

  • Men’s College Basketball: NCAA First Four at TBD on TBD

Check your local listings! We obviously don’t know the teams yet, but it’s NCAA Tournament time!

Wednesday, March 19th, 2025

  • MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs at 6:10 am (ET) on FS1

Roki Sasaki MLB debut in his home country. There’s nothing else you need to know other than that.

  • Men’s College Basketball: NCAA First Four at TBD on TBD

Again, check your local listings.

  • Women’s College Basketball: NCAA First Four at TBD on TBD

Check them for this as well!

Thank you for reading! As always, don’t forget to subscribe and share. I will catch you next week!
