Old rivalries, Sephora, and a basketball-playing nun!

Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!

First things first, we have some new subscribers! Welcome to the family! Alright, we always start with my show first because I love a shameless plug. This week, official Unrivaled Basketball content creator Aliyah Funschelle came through to help me help you understand why you need to tap into Unrivaled Basketball if you haven’t already!

Now, to the sports!

Thursday, February 6th, 2025

  • Women’s College Basketball: #5 UConn Huskies @ #19 Tennessee Volunteers at 6:30 pm (ET) on ESPN

This used to be THE matchup in women’s basketball, and ya know what? It’s still pretty good! The Lady Vols badly need a win, so we can start calling it a rivalry again. Their last victory over the Huskies featured a Candace Parker dunk. Can new Tennessee coach/mom Kim Caldwell’s chaotic system disrupt the disciplined style of Geno Auriemma’s crew? Or will Sarah Strong add another, uh, strong performance to her National Freshman of the Year resume? The nation’s #1 recruit in 2024 has reached double-figures in scoring in all but one game this season.

  • Unrivaled Women’s Basketball: Lunar Owls vs. Phantom at 7:15 pm (ET) on TNT

Another Unrivaled Friday featuring the undefeated Lunar Owls. Hootie hoooo! This play changed my life. That’s just kinda how this has gone for them. But you don’t have to take my word for it!

  • Unrivaled Women’s Basketball: Rose vs. Mist at 8:15 pm (ET) on TNT

Two predictions for next season: no more game-winning free throws and the current batch of referees will go back to being Beauty Advisors.

  • Women’s College Basketball: Oral Roberts Golden Eagles @ South Dakota State Jackrabbits @ 12:00 pm (ET) on CBSSN

What were you doing on January 8th, 2022? Do you even remember? Well, that’s the last time the Jackrabbits lost a regular season Summit League game. 56 wins later, and here we are. However, this will be their toughest test in quite some time. The Golden Eagles are 2nd in the conference and boast some big-time non-conference wins. They hit the road and took down both Arkansas and Missouri pretty convincingly. Keep an eye on Paige and Brooklyn Meyer (no relation that I’m aware of) for South Dakota State and Taleyah Jones for Oral Roberts.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Little Rock Trojans @ Morehead State Eagles at 2:00 pm (ET) on ESPNU

Losing your head coach and top 5 leading scorers is a recipe for disaster for most programs, especially non-power conference ones without huge NIL budgets to lean on. However, first-year head coach Jonathan Mattox has Morehead State cookin’, as the kids say. The Eagles are in 1st place in the Ohio Valley Conference and look every bit like a team that could make some noise in the conference tournament and once again find themselves in the Big Dance. Keep an eye on Mattox. This is his first head coaching job after working his way up from a position called “graduate manager” that I didn’t even know existed. I imagine we’ll be hearing his name a lot in years to come. And, thanks to me, you get to say you knew about him way back in 2025! You’re welcome.

  • NBA: Indiana Pacers @ Los Angeles Lakers at 4:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Luka’s Laker debut! This is a great article about how the trade came to be, even though I’m still not entirely convinced it’s not some sort of elaborate marketing gimmick for Anthony Davis’ new prank show.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #2 Duke Blue Devils @ Clemson Tigers at 6:30 pm (ET) on ESPN

Need more proof the ACC is dead? As I type this, Clemson is 2nd in the conference standings and still unranked. It pains me to admit it, but the Tigers are good, and this is the best chance we have at seeing Duke lose before March. Who doesn’t like watching that?

  • Men’s College Basketball: Saint Mary’s Gaels @ Oregon State Beavers at 10:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Saint Mary’s has a commanding lead in the WCC standings as they seek to become the 1st non-Gonzaga team to win back-to-back outright regular season conference championships since Pepperdine did it from 1991-’93. Sacramento Kings interim coach Doug Christie was the star of 2 of those Pepperdine teams. Per Screen Shots policy, please watch this video of him fighting Rick Fox.

  • Women’s College Basketball: #14 North Carolina State Wolfpack @ #22 Florida State Seminoles at 2:00 pm (ET) on The CW Network

Aziaha James scored a career-high 36 points in a wild comeback win against Duke. She might need a repeat performance to offset Seminoles star Ta’Niya Latson. Check out Latson’s ridiculous game-winner against North Carolina a couple of games ago.

  • Super Bowl LIX: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles at 6:30 pm (ET) on Fox

If you really need words on what this is and why you should watch, email me directly at [email protected].

Monday, February 10th, 2025

  • NBA: Golden State Warriors @ Milwaukee Bucks at 8:00 pm (ET) on NBA TV

These teams could look wildly different after this Thursday’s trade deadline. Worst case scenario, you still get a Steph-Dame matchup, which rarely disappoints.

Tuesday, February 11th, 2025

  • NBA: New York Knicks @ Indiana Pacers at 7:30 pm (ET) on TNT

An Eastern Conference Semifinals showdown that went the distance in last year’s playoffs seemed to reignite one of the best NBA rivalries from the ‘90s, and I’m a big nostalgia guy.

  • Men’s College Basketball: #19 UConn Huskies @ Creighton Bluejays at 9:00 pm (ET) on CBSSN

Earlier this season, Creighton ended the Huskies’ 28-game home winning streak. Will UConn get revenge, or will we get another Dan Hurley meltdown? You already know which side I’m on. Fun fact: it runs in the family!

  • Men’s College Basketball: Wyoming Cowboys @ New Mexico Lobos at 10:00 pm (ET) on FS1

Wyoming is coached by a man named Sundance Wicks, whose sister, Kelsey (oddly normal name), played basketball at Notre Dame before leaving the program to become a nun. Sundance calls their 1-on-1 battles “nun-on-1.” I will be writing a screenplay about this. In keeping with family tradition, Sundance has a son named Skywalker and a daughter named Grace (again, oddly normal). I have only just learned about this man, and I am fascinated.
