Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!

You didn’t think I’d let WNBA free agency pass without talking about it, did you? Of course not! Maddy Brown, who you may know on social media as @WNBAData, joined me to discuss all of the chaos that’s taken place and give all of the moves the proper amount of respect!

Now, to the sports!

  • Women’s College Basketball: #22 Creighton Bluejays @ #5 UConn Huskies at 7:00 pm (ET) on CBSSN

The final real test for the Huskies as they head toward yet another Big East regular season crown. Obviously, they have their eyes set on a much bigger prize though. Sarah Strong and Paige Bueckers have led Geno’s squad most of the season, but Azzi Fudd has been coming on strong recently after a couple of years battling knee injuries. February has been her best statistical month since November of 2022 as she’s knocked down an absurd 59% of her 3s and put up 17 points per game. Do NOT leave her open.

  • Unrivaled Basketball: Vinyl vs. Laces at 7:15 pm (ET) on TNT

The last meeting between these two was canceled because everyone got injured. Those injuries have really hurt the Laces, who went from looking like a potential championship contender to losing 4 of their last 5 games. They’re still in the playoff picture, but time is running out to get back on track.

  • Unrivaled Basketball: Mist vs. Phantom at 8:15 pm (ET) on TNT

The bad news is that they’ve both been at the bottom of the standings all season. The good news is that it’s still possible for each of them to make the playoffs!

  • Men’s College Basketball: #6 Alabama Crimson Tide @ #5 Tennessee Volunteers at 4:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

If you read this every week, you know that few things excite me quite like football schools dominating in basketball. Well, here we go again. Crimson Tide senior Mark Sears laid an egg in their loss to Auburn last Saturday. He’s responded by putting up 30+ points in each of the two games since. He’ll need to stay hot as Alabama is in one of the toughest stretches of basketball you’ll see. This will be the first of three top-5 matchups the Crimson Tide will have to end the season, including a rematch against #1 Auburn.

  • Women’s College Basketball: #4 Southern Cal Trojans @ #2 UCLA Bruins at 9:00 pm (ET) on Fox

In their first matchup a couple of weeks ago, Trojans megastar JuJu Watkins put on one of the most spectacular performances you will ever see as she led her team to an upset over the Bruins, who were undefeated at the time. Her stat line of 38 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks, and 5 assists was the first time all of those totals were hit by one player in a single game since the year 2000. Not just for Division I women either! We’re talking Division I men, the WNBA, and the NBA! Can the Bruins slow her down this time, and if they do, who else steps up for the Women of Troy?

  • Men’s College Basketball: #11 Wisconsin Badgers @ #8 Michigan State Spartans at 1:30 pm (ET) on CBS

We’ve seen coach after coach in his mold retire, but Spartans coach Tom Izzo somehow manages to keep winning basketball games. Even crazier, he’s done it without adjusting to either the modern game or the current landscape of college athletics. I’m convinced that he’ll be doing this a decade from now, standing on the sideline watching his team eschew 3-pointers while he yells at them about the perils of paying student-athletes. The only joy I get from his success is knowing how jealous it must make Jim Boeheim.

  • Women’s College Basketball: #15 Kentucky Wildcats @ #6 South Carolina Gamecocks at 2:00 pm (ET) on ESPN

Tune in to see if they pan up high enough to catch me sobbing in my seat after the Senior Day celebration!

  • NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves @ Phoenix Suns at 9:30 pm (ET) on ESPN

Here’s a nice article on the growing big brother-little brother relationship between Kevin Durant and Anthony Edwards.

  • Men’s College Basketball: Eastern Washington Eagles @ Montana Grizzlies at 11:00 pm (ET) on ESPN2

Eastern Washington coach Dan Monson might have the most interesting coaching career in men’s college hoops. In his 2nd season as a head coach, he took Gonzaga on a Cinderella run to the Elite Eight where they fell to eventual national champion UConn. He immediately left to take the Minnesota job, which led to roughly two and a half decades of basketball anonymity, before we learned he was still coaching last March when Long Beach State announced right before the conference tournament that they were letting him go after the season. Wouldn’t ya know it, Dan’s team won that tournament, earning an automatic bid to the Big Dance. They lost in the first round and Monson returned to the state of Washington where he’s now coaching the Eagles.

  • NBA: Golden State Warriors @ New York Knicks at 7:30 pm (ET) on TNT

If you are reading this the day I publish it, then it’s the 12th anniversary of Steph Curry’s NBA Coming Out Party. Up to that point, Steph had been a good but injury-prone player, but that night at Madison Square Garden he gave us a glimpse of what he would soon become. When it was all said and done, he dropped 54 points on 11 for 13 shooting from 3 and hilariously snubbed Draymond Green mid-celebration. As Curry gets ready to turn 37 years old next month, it’s a safe bet that we almost certainly have fewer than 5 more times to see him play at MSG. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss them.

  • Women’s College Basketball: SEC Tournament at 11:00 am (ET), 1:30 pm (ET), 6:00 pm (ET), and 8:30 pm (ET) on SEC Network

And so it begins! As a child, there was nothing better than coming home from school and being able to watch basketball on TV. To me, it always marked my own official beginning of spring. Now, thanks to the powers that be finally recognizing that we want to watch women’s basketball too, kids today get this privilege a full week earlier than I did!

  • Women’s College Basketball: ACC Tournament at 1:00 pm (ET), 3:30 pm (ET), and 6:30 pm (ET) on ACC Network

If you thought the past couple of weeks were college basketball-heavy, we’re just getting started.

  • Men’s College Basketball:  #16 Maryland Terrapins @ #15 Michigan Wolverines at 6:30 pm (ET) on Big Ten Network

While we’re gearing up, check out what the Terps have going on. I’m not saying freshman C Derik Queen will ever be as good as Nikola Jokic. However, his arsenal of offensive moves is similar to Jokic’s bag. Tell me I’m lying.

As always, thank you for reading! Be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already AND share with a friend! I’ll catch you next week!
