The WNBA Draft, the Dodger I hate the most, and college softball!
Welcome to Screen Shots! This is where I tell you what sporting events you should watch on TV every week! Make sure you subscribe so it comes straight to your inbox! Have your own suggestions? Shoot me an email at [email protected]!
As always, let’s start with an episode of my show! This week, Mike McGee joined me to preview the women’s Final Four. People on TikTok got incredibly worked up about what was said. An overreaction on their part? You be the judge!
Now, to the sports!

NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves @ Memphis Grizzlies at 9:30 pm (ET) on TNT
NBA PR probably has this one circled, too. While they’ll be tuning in to see if they have to issue any statements about Anthony Edwards or Ja Morant, you should check it out because these are 2 of the 6 Western Conference teams that could end up anywhere between the 3-seed and the 8-seed.

College Softball: #6 Tennessee Volunteers @ #1 Texas Longhorns at 9:00 pm (ET) on ESPNU
Whenever I watch the Women’s College World Series, I always tell myself that I need to start paying attention sooner, so here we are. A battle of strengths as Texas comes in leading the nation in batting average, while Tennessee is #1 in team ERA. Vols pitcher Karlyn Pickens is a couple of weeks removed from throwing the fastest recorded pitch in NCAA softball history. If anybody can touch that, my money is on reigning National Player of the Year Reese Atwood. Let’s learn another sport together!

MLS: New England Revolution @ Atlanta United FC at 2:45 pm (ET) on Fox
It’s becoming more and more rare that I can see an athlete competing at a high level who also happens to be older than me. Luckily, GK Brad Guzan is still suiting up for Atlanta United. The 40-year-old former Gamecock was the 2nd overall pick in the MLS SuperDraft all the way back in 2005. Atlanta United FC didn’t even play their first match until 2017. However, Guzan was there for that one, and many more, as he holds the team record for most appearances.
MLB: San Francisco Giants @ New York Yankees at 3:05 pm (ET) on FS1
I was going to write about torpedo bats until I looked at the NL West standings. There’s a lot of baseball left to be played, but this division is the torpedo bat of divisions. The defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers have won it 12 of the last 13 seasons, and are still the favorite to win it again. However, the Padres and these Giants have matched their hot start. Jordan Hicks is the probable starter for them in this one, and he’s got a Karlyn Pickens-esque arm.

UFL: DC Defenders @ St. Louis Battlehawks at 3:00 pm (ET) on ABC
Remember those college players of yesteryear who you knew weren’t quite good enough for the NFL? I found them! What it lacks in quality, it makes up for with nostalgia. Watch former Ole Miss QB Jordan Ta’amu lead the Defenders against kicker/optometry enthusiast Rodrigo Blankenship!
MLB: Chicago Cubs @ Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:00 pm (ET) on ESPN
Cubs RF Kyle Tucker attended the same high school as Wade Boggs (RIP). The school’s baseball field is named after Boggs, but they’re going to have to find a way to honor Tucker if he keeps hitting like this. He’ll see what kind of damage he can do against Dodgers SP Dustin May, who looks like the Wendy’s logo and almost died eating a salad. Incredible that lettuce can tear one man’s esophagus, while the Secret Service had to re-enact The Sword in the Stone to remove Trump from reliever Blake Treinen’s mouth, but Treinen appears to be both uninjured and gleeful. I’m not sure if this says more about Treinen or Trump, but surely a normal person’s esophagus would tarriff they did that.

WNBA: 2025 WNBA Draft at 7:30 pm (ET) on ESPN
We just got done watching all of the best and brightest on the college stage, now we get to see where they start their professional careers. Newly crowned national champion Paige Bueckers will go first overall to the Dallas Wings unless a meteor strikes, but what happens after that is a mystery.

NBA: Play-In Tournament at TBD on TBD
Check your local listings, but you’ll want to watch. I was pessimistic about this when it was first announced, but it’s actually entertaining. The Western Conference will feature competitive teams that could realistically win a series or two. The Eastern Conference will most likely be a tank off, which is amusing in a different way.

NBA: Play-In Tournament at TBD on TBD
Again, check your local listings.
MLB: Seattle Mariners @ Cincinnati Reds at 6:40 pm (ET) on FS1
Two years ago, I had Danny Foxworth and Brett Gosnell on to give me their must-watch MLB players. Two of them, Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena, play for the Mariners. Reds SS Elly De La Cruz wasn’t on anybody’s radar at the time, but I don’t think you can name 5 more fun players to watch in all of baseball. Danny and Brett just talked about how illegal cable led to Brett picking a favorite MLB team, so check that out!
As always, thank you for reading! If you are not already subscribed, you should handle that so this arrives in your inbox every Thursday morning. Also, share with your friends! See you next week!
